We are very excited to present to your our new and improved Drupal website. The main reason for the update was not the 'look and feel' even though that was part of the reason.
The main reason - you guessed it, was Search Engine Optimization.
Google doing what it does best is constantly upgrading its algorithm to make sure their user get 'fresh relevant content'.
Did you know that one of the factors that Google considers whether or not our page stays on Page 1 is 'performance'.
Yes, that's right. better performing site, as in fast loading website, means better search ranking. Page load time is key SEO factor in our opinion to stay on page 1.
Here is why!
Consider this, you have your site on shared hosting and you have done a good job of optimizing your site and have made it to page 1. Now, when a user clicks on the url of your site, it takes a 'few seconds' to load, during this time the users get 'annoyed' and closes your site. You think Google looks at this statistics? you bet.
Google looks at this and goes, well this is not the best user experience for 'my users' and guess what, your url will be pushed further down on the search page.
Now, this takes on more significance if you consider that a major portion on web traffic is now mobile, so having a mobile friendly, super optimized, fast loading website is not something to be taken lightly. Remember shared hosting means 'shared resources' and if you have any decent amount of traffic that you will see the difference.
So, what exactly makes our website super fast?
Dedicated Server, with Varnish to boost performance and a responsive theme to accommodate mobile user. That's it. Simple.
Did you know that Drupal.org upgraded to Drupal 7 October 31st, 2013.
Yep, almost 2 years after its official release in Jan 2011.
Are you on Drupal and want to fine tune it for better performance?
